Hello everyone, I was wondering about the developers. Will Hyprland be paid in the future? Will it be separated into an open source support version when there is paid support? Even though this sounds like a ridiculous theory, I would still like to know the developers’ opinions on this matter.
Paid support already exists, it’s when you post your question in the member (paid) area of the forum.
That has nothing to do with the software being locked. You get support straight from me, and I usually move the thread to be publicly available info once solved.
No, I’m not saying paid support in that sense, I’m asking in terms of Hyprland (core) software. I was wondering if you’ll end up with open source but some components are closed in the future, or if this version is open source and the other version is closed. Because software that initially offered paid support for “plugins and modules” switched to a paid model even for core support. I’m not saying you’ll switch too, but I was wondering if you have such an idea in mind in the future.
Do you doubt this? Support | Hyprland
After the desktop environments and applications I used in the past, yes. And I’m not saying anything wrong with that because some Linux software is switching to a paid model, although I like this, this is the truth.
I should mention this. This could also apply to Hyprland’s core code in the future, or the project might evolve in that direction, meaning the source code won’t be fully open, or open-source, closed-source versions might be released. Many plugins like this have been seen, so why not? Vaxry and other developers are probably thinking, “How much more money can they make from this?” Money is a crucial resource for the project’s sustainability and development. Donations aren’t very effective because Hyprland doesn’t have the large ecosystem of other foundations or GNU I really care about this project and am ready to help in any way I can, but I want to be more clear about it.And I’m not saying because hyperpeeks is paid. I’m wondering if the project has any logic to move in this direction.
What is Hyprpeeks?
On another note, @vaxry will you prioritize Support xdg_toplevel_drag · Issue #10456 · hyprwm/Hyprland · GitHub if i subscribe to hyprperks, because i’m torn between cosmic and hyprland (leaning towards hyprland obviously beacause sheer no. of my favourite features), dragging with the titlebar just makes soooo..… much sense. [NOTE: we have to use windows on office machines]
I know what hype peeks are, the things I write are mostly about the hyprland core code.
No, core code will not go paid.
I don’t prioritize issues based on hyprperks
Thanks I understand.
