Performance issue with version 52

First a huge thanks for your work and my eternal gratitude to provide such an amazing piece of software for free  .

But sadly I run into some issues with the latest release:

After upgrading to version 52 i had some games (via steam) that seem to have performance issues and are stuck at 5fps (or less), running before at constant 60+fps. To be frank I am not entirely sure if it is really related to hyprland but downgrading to my current version fixes those issues.

here is the output from hyprctl version

Hyprland 0.51.1 built from branch at commit 71a1216abcc7031776630a6d88f105605c4dc1c9 ([gha] Nix: update inputs).
Date: Mon Sep 22 20:54:03 2025
Tag: v0.51.1, commits: 6436
built against:
aquamarine 0.9.5
hyprlang 0.6.3
hyprutils 0.10.1
hyprcursor 0.1.13
hyprgraphics 0.3.0

fps are measured via the steam overlay that interestingly enough reports min and max fps where min is 0 and max was around 2k. Observed fps was constant 5. If anyone has an idea where to look at to get to the root of the problem please feel free to respond.

Other things i tried:

  1. re-installing hpyrland via meta-repo (e.g. git and building it from scratch).
  2. re-installing hyprland normally
  3. nvidia driver update/downgrade

If you need more information I try to provide it ASAP.

For the interested the game with the most noticeable issue is called Return from Core (which is “just” a 2D game and should not have any issues on my machine, and did not have any before)

Another game I tried is the latest anno. There the game started normal with 60fps in menus but at some point it went down to 2fps with again low min and high max fps (low again 0 and high again around 2k).

Specs:

i9 (11th gen), 3070RTX, 32gb ram, archlinux 6.17.7-arch1-2

Thanks for any help!

With the latest version the issue is fixed thanks!
