Jumps back to first workspace when certain apps exit

I’m running into a strange issue when certain apps close their window, Hyprland immediately jumps back to workspace 1.

The particular app is wezterm (I’m finally moving off gnome-terminal. For example, if I’m on workspace 5, open wezterm there, then close it, I’ll jump back to workspace 1. Even if I have other apps open like Emacs, or a video player, or VS code.

I’ve also noticed this happens with VLC as well. I haven’t seen it on any other apps, but its pretty consistent with these 2. Not 100% of the time, but 80% of the time.

Any ideas?

maybe it’s focus_on_activate and wezterm being cringe as usual?

JSYK, wezterm is by far the most broken terminal on wayland. The amount of “bugs” I’ve gotten that were wezterm being broken is off the charts.
