First thing to do on Hyprland

After setting up basic stuff on Hyprland when first installing it, what do most of you guys do first to make Hyprland good for you or would be overall good for anyone. Animations? Custom scripts? Share your ideas please. My current setup is kinda basic, I want to maybe spice it up.

Take a look at Useful Utilities – Hyprland Wiki and install what you like.

Ah yeah, I’ve seen that. I was more talking about maybe unique stuff that people maybe do

Key things?

  • change / set up binds
  • install key software (launcher, some utilities like xdph, etc, see Useful utilities)
  • poke around at the variables, see the Variables page.

then have fun :P

Using HyDE, you rDevelopment Environment. :joy:

  • that would be 20 lines.

Spend countless hours writing your own taskbar and widgets but realize you prefer a very simple layout and now your desktop looks like you did absolutely nothing

same here, haven’t been able to figure it out quite yet outside the basics, you got any dotfiles yet?

Which plugins do you use? I’m ~6 months into Hyprland and haven’t found a need to look into them yet.

First thing I do is change my keybinds to be more like what I’m used to (eg: i3 Mod+Return for terminal, Mod+D for applications, Mod+Q to kill window). 2nd thing I do is change the background.

install end4’s dots and change some defaults like keybinds, setup autologin on gdm and set the lockscreen to start on boot, set monitor stuff obv, add the firefox template to matugen and install pywallfox. uhhhhhhhhh then i just install all my programs and setup flatpak and thats is!

oh and i use 1 whole plugin split-monitor-workspaces, i can’t use dual monitors without it lmao
