When I try to upload following picture as a profile picture I get hit with an error:
I am using a vpn, I don’t know if that might be blocking something, as I’ve experienced the wiki to sometimes.s
Have you tried to disable the vpn? Worth a try. Could also try on another browser and/or device like phone 
Also have you tried any other images.
Are you using any brower/extensions for privacy/security
Feeling a little stupid for not having tried that yet. Having done so now, I can report that it doesn’t fix it either (at least no vpn and browser, I’ll try device in a second)

I tried some other variants of that same banana and they all didn’t work, when I tried some completely different images one worked (as you can see as my profile picture)
One thing might be that all banana pics are 1mb+ and the remy picture I have now is 48kb
That would still mean that there is a faulty, misleading error message that would need fixing.
I’ll try with some images just below and above 1mb
yeah alright so it seems like the limit is around 1MB, tried a 990kb image and it uploaded fine, the 1.2mb banana did not work
in that case it would be good to update the error message to display the actual limit (however the message is not synced with the actual limit)
Could you try resizing the banana? I’m just curious if the limit is 1mb. Would myself but am on phone right now (don’t have pictures on phone and don’t want the banana personally)
As already tested, the limit seems to be around 1mb
I resized the banana and it works
or just upload it to gravatar.com and never think about it again. It will resize it automatically based on what’s required by a website. A lot of places pull from it automatically, and you only need to update it in one place to have it update everywhere.
Edit: That being said, the discrepancy between the forum’s upload limit (10MB) and the actual upload limit (1MB) is likely a misconfiguration somewhere (probably in the reverse proxy) that @vaxry should fix.
Right, I think the proxy limit is 1M. I’ll check it.
