Brackets around active workspace in waybar

i want it to look like this

this is what ive tried to make it happen

"format": "{icon}",
"format-icons": {
    "active": "[{name}]"
}

but it just looks like this

1 [{name}] 3 4 5

(im limited to only one pic lol)

is this just not possible or can i work around it and still get the result im seeking?

You do not define the border in config.jsonc of waybar.

The file to set it is style.css

There are numerous guides and examples over the web. In your shoes, I would start reading from here. Styling is at the end of the page.

i may be wrong but i think u are misinterpreting my question, unless i can put brackets in with css. i want around my active workspace, the actual bracket characters. im not messing with borders

idk why the brackets make a box i cant cant unbox it
